5 Ways to Spend No-Cost Summer Activities

Despite the high cost of everything nowadays, families can still enjoy the summer months without having to spend a small fortune while on vacation. There are many ways to do this but here are 5 common ways to spend no-cost summer activities for the whole family.

1.    Go have a picnic in the local park. Prepare a large quantity of food and pack them carefully in a roomy picnic basket. Fried chicken, sandwiches, cold meat cuts, fresh fruits, vegetable salads, lots of water and juices, and even raw steaks to cook over makeshift charcoal grill. Bring your badminton, soccer ball, volleyball, or a Frisbee to play with. You can also bring a battery-operated CD player to provide music. The family will spend quality time together while engaging in healthy activities as well.
2.    Pack a big picnic basket or two and spend the whole day in the beach. Bring a small tent, beach blankets, plastic pails and shovels for building sand castles, radio, clean clothing for everyone, a large amount of food, jugs of drinking water and juices.
3.    Enjoy a free concert at the local park or in the local cinema. Many cities and towns offer free concerts to be enjoyed by everyone during the late afternoon or the early evening. The kids can learn from being exposed to certain types of music. You can bring blankets to spread on the grass where all of you can sit on while listening to the concert. Pack a small bag with snacks and drinks for everyone.
4.    Take a hiking expedition. A day spent hiking along popular trails of your home state or town will be a great bonding time for the whole family. Everyone carries a backpack, which is pre-packed with no-mess food like sandwiches, fresh fruits, salads, hotdogs, fried chicken, and small jugs of cold water and juices. Bring along your magnifying glasses, small notebooks, and cameras so that the kids can take note and pictures of newly-discovered plants and flowers along the way.
5.    The best place to go during family bonding time is the backyard. If you have no swimming pool or a large space, buy a small inflatable pool and set it up on the shady corner of the lawn. The kids will enjoy splashing in the shallow water. Put up a makeshift tent over the thick blankets where all of you can have a short nap after eating a sumptuous lunch of homemade barbecue. Build a small bonfire so that kids can toast their marshmallows while listening to favorite fairy tales and ghost stories.

These are just suggestions so that families can enjoy many good times without straining the household budget. Based on their own experiences as children, parents can think of more ideas. Family outings are important to build close relationship between parents and kids.

Most children like to play dressing up. Both boys and girls will surely love wearing costumes of their favorite superheroes. Kids also want to act to provide entertainment for the parents and other older members of the family.

Kids enjoy doing any activity with their parents. Just being together is a great time for them. Take pictures of all these happy moments so that you and your kids will have many family scrapbook projects to do during the winter months.
